July 28, 2010 - Drill at FedEx Building, Magnolia

Stations 29 and 691 conducted a training sessions at the FedEX Building on E. Atlantic Avenue, Magnolia. The departments tested the water flow on the hydrant system and were given a tour of the building by the Facility Manager.

July 4, 2010 - Congressman Rob Andrews Visits Hi-Nella

Congressman Andrews made a surprise visit to Hi-Nella’s Annual July Fourth Celebration. Joining him was State Senator Donald Norcross, and several of the Camden County Freeholders.

June 24, 2010 - Storm Creates Busy Day for Hi-Nella FD

Firefighters were kept busy as a severe wind and rain storm rolled through Hi-Nella. Station personnel handled sixteen incidents between 3:45 PM and 9:00 PM. The calls ranged from building fires, flooded roadways, downed wires, and numerous incidents of large trees and limbs down.

May 31, 2010 - Memorial Day 2010

Residents and Borough Officials gathered to remember and honor the military heroes who defended the cause of freedom in our Country. Wreaths were placed at the Monument to recognize those who served in conflicts around the world.

May 10, 2010 - 8 Union Avenue, Stratford

Station 691 was dispatched on the 2nd Alarm at 13:55 hrs to assist Station 641 on a heavily involved dwelling fire. 64101 ordered Engine 6912 to lay 900 feet of 5" LDH and provide a secondary water supply to Engine 6412 at the scene.

April 28, 2010 - High Winds Knock Tree Down on Nokomis Road, Hi-Nella

Station 691 was dispatched at 16:35 hrs to remove a large tree that was blocking the roadway. The tree was uprooted during a high wind storm.

April 16, 2010 - MVA Injures Two, N. White Horse Pike, Magnolia

Utility 29 and Engine 691 were dispatched at 16:47 hrs. to a two-car MVA in front of Colombo’s Liquor. Crews stabilized the vehicles and assisted EMS with removing two injured occupants.

April 9, 2010 - Four Vehicle MVA, Evesham Road & White Horse Pike, Magnolia

Engine 29, Engine 691, and Rescue 82 were dispatched at 8:33 hrs for an MVA/Rescue. First arriving officer 2905 reported that there were two, two-vehicle accidents at the same location with one passenger trapped.

April 2, 2010 - New TIC & LDH for Station 691

The Department recently placed into service new larger diameter hose and a new thermal imaging camera. Engine 6912 was upgraded to 5" LDH, and all of the 4" LDH was replaced on Engine 6911.

March 24, 2010 - Vehicle Extrication Drill

Personnel practiced their vehicle extrication skills during a recent drill at the Station. Firefighters had the opportunity to use the new hydraulic rescue tools, rams, stabilizers, cribbing, and the rescue manikin.

March 15, 2010 - Single Car MVA, Somerdale Road

At 20:48, Stations 691, 65, and EMS 29-64 were dispatched to a single car MVA at the Somerdale Road and Nokomis Road. Crews assisted with stabilizing the vehicle and packaging and removing one patient.

March 6, 2010 - 2010 Officers Installed

The Annual Installation Dinner was held on March 6 in the banquet room at the fire station. Members and their guests enjoyed dinner and entertainment provided by Vice President Rob Cunningham and Asst. Chief Michael Ali.

Feb. 23 2010 - Explosion at 82 Hunter Drive, Hi-Nella

At 21:31, Task Force 69 was dispatched to a report of an explosion under 82 Hunter Drive. 69101 arrived first on the scene and reported nothing showing. Initial reports from residents at the scene were that an explosion had rocked the building.

Feb. 23, 2010 - All-Hands at 72 Hunter Drive, Hi-Nella

At 17:08, Task Force 69 was dispatched to a reported apartment fire at 72 Hunter Drive. 69101 was first to arrive and reported smoke showing from the second floor and roof area. Engines 6912 and 821 were first to arrive and made the initial attack and handled the water supply.

Feb. 10, 2010 - Firefighters Stand By during Winter Storm

A severe winter snowstorm caused long delays to responding firefighters so personnel stood by at the fire station around the clock.

Feb. 4, 2010 - MVA Evesham & Walnut Avenue, Magnolia

At 8:55 hrs Engine 6911 was dispatched to assist Utility 29 on an MVA that sent one vehicle into the front yard of a nearby house. Crews stood by as the vehicle was removed by the towing company.

Engine 6912 handles RIC Assignment and Water Supply At 21:16 hours on New Years Eve, Task Force 82 was dispatched to a reported dwelling fire on Landing Road.

Truck vs. Traffic Light - N. White Horse Pike, Magnolia - December 23, 2009

Portions of the White Horse Pike and Evesham Road were closed for several hours as crews from Station 29 and Station 691 cleaned up fluids and debris from a one vehicle accident that took down a traffic light at the intersection.

Heavy Snowfall Doesn't Stop Santa - December 20, 2009

Despite a heavy blanket of snow that covered the area on December 19th and 20th, the department continued the annual tradition of escorting Santa Claus throughout Hi-Nella.

Station 691 held their 5th Annual Turducken Bowl Football Classic on Thanksgiving Day, November 26.

Single Car MVA - Warwick Road

Engine 691 was dispatched at 15:46 hrs for a MVA at 715 S. Warwick Road. 69104 was first to arrive and reported a passenger car into a guard rail, with one minor injury, and fluids and debris on the roadway.

Task Force Box 822 - McKinley Avenue, Gloucester Twp.

On October 9, at 6:11 AM Task Force 822 was dispatched for a structure fire on McKinley Avenue, Chews Landing. FM82 arrived and reported a three car detached garage heavily involved. Engine 821 lead the initial attack while Engine 6912 handled the water supply.

Station Renovations Completed - "Just in Time"

For the past three months, renovations have been underway at the fire station to make room for housing the department’s new rescue truck.

Work begins on Fire Station Renovation

Building renovations are underway to make room for the new rescue truck. The work involves removing the maintenance room to enlarge the existing area for housing the fire apparatus.

Flooded Basement on Hiawatha Road

The Department responded to a dewatering incident on May 15 and found three feet of water in the basement of an elderly resident’s home.

On May 9, Station 691 personnel attended the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Chews Landing Fire Company.

Engine 6911 Assists at MVA in Magnolia - April 2

An early morning MVA at Evesham Road and the White Horse Pike resulted in one injury and closed the intersection for nearly one hour. Crews from Station 29 and 691 assisted EMS 29 with removing the driver from the one vehicle, and cleaned up heavy debris and fluids from the roadway.

American Water Company Visits Fire Station - March 7, 2009

Station 691 hosted a tour and presentation for a group of Managers and Employees from the American Water Company. During the visit the group toured the fire station, and they were provided with an overview of the equipment and apparatus.

Family Pet Rescued at Apartment Fire - March 4, 2009

Task Force 691 responded to an apartment fire on Dobbs Drive, Fox Ridge Apartments. The Camden County Communications Center reported a stove fire initially, with the first arriving police units reporting that the fire had spread to the walls, cabinets and ceiling of the kitchen area. Engine 6912 was the first unit to arrive and was ordered to stretch a 1 3/4 attack line to the second floor by 69101.

New SCBA Placed in Service Thanks to "2008 AFG Award"

Station 691 recently placed into service new Scott 4.5 SCBAs and air cylinders. Each unit is equipped with the automatic integrated PASS device, EBSS connection, RIC/UAC connection, buddy breathing connection, and AV3000 masks with voice amp devices.

RIT Training in Deptford

Station 691 Firefighters joined personnel from Station 82 (Chews Landing) to conduct RIT Training at a vacant shopping center behind the Deptford Mall.

2009 Turducken Bowl

The 4th Annual Fire Department 'Turducken Bowl' was held on November 27. Members enjoyed perfect football weather, and after a hard fought effort the Wildwood Standby Crew out scored the Firemen’s Convention Crew 21 to 14.

A Bit of Nostalgia

The original siren that stood a top the fire station is back in its rightful place. A traditional symbol of the fire service, the fire siren was the means of alerting our volunteer firefighters of and emergency, before it gave way to the pagers and home alerting systems used today.

On June 9, at 20:05, while responding to a FAST Unit Assignment at the Gloucester Township Municipal Building in Chews Landing, Engine 691 was redirected to a reported dwelling fire on the Black Hose Pike in the Blenheim section of the Township.

Hiawatha Road MVA
On 3/15/08 one motorist was injured when their car slammed into a park car on Hiawatha Road late one evening. The driver was treated at the scene by fire fighters and EMS personnel and then transported to the hospital.
